and Bottled Water
When we think of bottled water we think of a hot tennis players gulping it
down in between a match. There is certainly a myth behind bottled water.
Sometimes I think that the only thing around it is that rich people are
drinking it. We all see a lot of these rich and famous people on TV drinking
bottled water all the time. Bottled water has clearly become very popular,
and there is no doubt about that. When I run down to the store, I see more different brands than I can possibly keep count of.
I will admit that I have had my share of bottled water in my day.
I usually get it if I am out and no where near home to get a drink of tap water.
If I am out walking, running or exercising and don't have any water with me, I get bottled water.
But is bottled water a rip off?
The short and painfull answer is yes.
There is nothing new or great about it. The only thing that is great about it
is how it has been marketed and it's convienence. We are told it is the greatest thing that we
can buy. All of us should drink it everyday. You will have to bear in mind
that these water companies are out to make money. Their market is
to sell you bottled water, even if you don't need it.
Is bottled water better than tap water?
No, it definetly is not. In pure fact of the matter is, most bottled water is nothing more than regular tap water.
It is filtered and purified so it doesn't have the taste that tap water does.
Anything that will get you to drink more water is great for the manufacturer. You must realize that it is nothing more than a
waste of your money.
You are not getting anything that your body will jump for joy over.
You must watch what you buy. Some bottled water have different things
added, like sugar or other flavorings.
If it does not taste like clean pure water, there must be something added.
Sometimes the water we get may come from a spring or a mountain river. Is
this any better? No not really. There might be a few trace
minerals
in it that regular tap water does not have. But for the most part, it is just the
same, but at a higher price.
You may
love the taste of your bottled water...
but you really don't like the taste of your
household tap water.
What should you do?
I would strongly suggest that you do not run out to the store in order to get more bottled water. There are a great many products on the market that can
filter
your tap water. The one I use is the pitcher with the filter in it. I'm sure you have seen
these on TV many times before. When you fill with water, it goes through a special
filter.
These are very inexpensive and very easy and convienent to use. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to fill a pitcher with water. Check your local
store like walmart or home depot, I'm sure that you will find one that will suit your needs there. There are also faucet filters
that you can put right on your faucet. These tend to be the best
ones to use. They are easy to use and easy to replace the filters. You
can get these at any Wal Mart.
There is always the water filtering system. I don't know why people use these instead of the smaller
faucet units. I know that some people have to use them because of the
condition of their water like well water. The water is so hard and you need
to soften it just to take a shower. But does nothing to filter out and produce great tasting water.
If you still hate the taste of your tap water, try filling up the empty
bottles that you have left over from the bottled water you bought with tap water. Then stick them
in the freezer and get them nice and cold. You will soon realize that when the water is really
cold, it has a different taste. You might find this to be acceptable and
drinkable. Your wallet will soon thank you for it.
The problem I see with thi bottled water fad is, it is way too expensive. You are being
charged an arm and a leg for something you can get for
free. Why should anyone be so stupid to pay for it? Well, you shouldn't be stupid.
People should feel guilty for running out and buying bottled water.
So stop buying and drinking bottled water and just see how much money you
save just in one month. I find it completely insain that there are millions of people all over
the world who are dying of starvation and disease and we the stupid, pay money
for a lousy bottle of water. Now, drinking plenty of water everyday
does help with weight loss and keeps your system healthy and clean.
By drinking water regularly and and keeping hydrated, you feel full and much less hungry which
in turn aids in helping with your weight loss program.
Drinking Water and Weight Loss.
Drinking water has no calories and drinking it makes us feel full.
Drinking water before meals can help people to lose weight because we eat less.
Scientists from Virginia found that dieters can lose an average of 5lb extra if they drink two glasses of water three times a day before eating meals.
The test was conducted on 48 older adults, split into 2 groups, over a 12 week period.
While drinking water can help make you feel full, drinking too much water can also lead to
some real health problems.
The research study presented their findings at the National Meeting of the American
Chemical Society in located in Boston.
All of the adults who took part in the study were between the age of 55 to 75.
The first group study followed a low-calorie diet but didn't drink any extra water before meals.
You should drink more water and less sugary, high-calorie drinks. It's a simple and easy way
to facilitate your weight management.
The second group study followed a low-calorie diet but also were required to drink two
glasses of water before each meal. 'No calories'
Over the course of the study of 12 weeks, those people drinking water before meals lost
about 15.5lbs while the other individuals lost only about 11lbs.
A previous study found that middle-aged and older people who drank at least two glasses of
water before eating a meal ended up eating between 75 and 90 fewer calories during their meal.
Professor Brenda Davy, a senior author of the study, from Virginia Tech Institute, said it was the first randomized controlled trial looking at water consumption and weight loss. She said the reason water has proved to be so effective is because it fills up the stomach with a liquid that contains absolutely no calories.
So called diet drinks and other drinks with artificial sweeteners may also help people reduce their calorie intake and lose weight.
However, Professor Davy advised against drinks with sugar, because they are very high in calories.
A regular can of the so called fizzy drink contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar.
The study was funded by the charity, The Institute for Public Health and Water Research.
